Mindreader is my first maximalist piece — a rebellion against my sparse, minimal ethereal vibes that I’m known for.

Mindreader is about being done with “the game”. Songwriter Emma Rosen and I were chatting one afternoon, passing a guitar casually back and forth in my kitchen. I was playing a weird ascending major chord progression as we talked about how we pour ourselves fully into everything we love and our desire for healthy communication.

I had a visceral image of ripping my bleeding heart out, as I’ve been feeling so deeply in love it feels like it could burst. The production on Mindreader was a collective effort between Max Hershenow, myself and Tommy as we puzzle pieced layers upon layers of arpeggiated synths and guitars. And of course, I danced countless nights to test out the vibes.
