The Wash is about finding peace in moments of distress.. Written on day three of shutdown, March 2020, as Tommy and I were passing the time by jamming with my Prophet keyboard and his 808 drum machine. We had no intention of writing a song, but it flowed to us in our time of need. We were taking a lot of bubble baths to relieve the stress, and Tommy would often say to me after a bad day, “you gotta wash the day off”. This minimal track is the original day one version with the demo vocals. The Wash is also the second song Tommy and I wrote together. If it weren’t for the pandemic, we probably wouldn’t have ever written together because working with your partner can be difficult and scary!
lyrics
V1
Hallelujah, now I’m stuck here with you
Whole world’s closing, everywhere empty rooms
Kill the panic, cut the lights
Pretty soon we’ll be alright
CHORUS
Time’s up, we know we got
to wash the day off
Lie down, we’re up, oh
Baby we can live forever in this house
In the glow, in the wash
POST
In the glow, in the wash, in the wash
In the glow, in the wash, in the wash
Baby we can live forever in this house, ohh
In the glow, in the wash
Yeah
V2
Ships are sinking, watching the colors change
Livin in shadows, everyone’s tucked away
Mmhmm kill the panic, cut the lights
Pretty soon we’ll be alright
CHORUS
Time’s up, we know we got
to wash the day off
Lie down, we’re up, oh
Baby we can live forever in this house
In the glow, in the wash
POST
In the glow, in the wash, in the wash
In the glow, in the wash, in the wash
Baby we can live forever in this house, ohh
In the glow, in the wash
Yeah
